Karola Braga (1988, São Caetano do Sul, Brazil) is an artist and olfactory researcher known for her innovative approach that explores the relationship between absence and presence, memory and forgetting. She holds a master’s degree in Visual Poetics from the University of São Paulo (ECA/USP) and a bachelor’s degree in Fine Arts from the Armando Alvares Penteado Foundation (FAAP). Her work stands out for its use of the olfactory sphere, challenging perception and space, creating sensations and accessing memories through scents that are laden with cultural symbolism.

The artist has participated in exhibitions and awards at important institutions in Brazil and countries such as France, Germany, the United States, Switzerland, and Iran. She has been part of the Artistic Residency Program at the Cité Internationale des Arts in Paris and the Kooshk Residency in Tehran, where she received the Kooshk Artist Residency Award (KARA 2018). She has also been nominated for the Fellowships and Commissions Program of the Cisneros Fontanals Art Foundation 2020 and the Bloom Art Prize Weihenstephaner 2019. Additionally, she participated in the 13th Mercosul Biennial and is a finalist for the 9th Art and Olfaction Awards in Los Angeles in the category of Sadakichi Award for Experimental Work with Scent.
